Don’t Take On Divorce Alone
There are very few events in our lives that are more stressful, and sometimes frightening than a divorce. Feelings are raw and the future often looks confusing at best. We want to help you look forward to a wonderful, happy and fulfilling life in the days ahead once you get through this time of uncertainty.
First, let’s recognize the elephant in the room. Emotions – mostly negative and painful ones – are usually the main factor that frequently cause decisions during a divorce to be made badly. In many cases, one or both parties usually look at the process with two conflicting thoughts in mind. This is where we really shine.
One of the biggest issues to deal with during a divorce is housing. If you and your spouse own a home, there are several paths you can take to reach a solution. You can sell the home and split the proceeds, or one person can “buy out” the other by refinancing the mortgage. Sitting down and discussing these options will help you get on the same page and minimize friction. We can provide a free consultation including a free comparative market analysis of your current home to help give you the answers you need to make the best financial decision.

Divorce Real Estate FAQ
Can I buy a new home if I’m still listed on the previous mortgage?
Yes, but it can be difficult to purchase another home until your divorce is final. In most situations involving child support and alimony, the payments must be received for a specific time period before you can use it as qualifying income. If you are still listed as a co-borrower on the mortgage for the prior home, many mortgage programs will allow you to qualify while excluding that debt. We will connect you to an experienced lender who can give you the best advice for your unique situation.
What happens to my current home?
If you and your spouse own a home, there are two main routes you can take to reach a solution. You can sell the home and split the proceeds, or one person can “buy out” the other by refinancing the mortgage. Sitting down and discussing these options will help you get on the same page and minimize friction.
How does a divorce impact my credit score?
Unfortunately for many, divorce is a time of great financial hardship and credit challenges. Because you are responsible for the mortgage until it is paid in full or refinanced, it is imperative that you remain current on the monthly payments. We can discuss further whether refinancing or selling is a better option for your situation and come up with a plan.
Are you certified?
I’ve gone a step further than certification to earn the Real Estate Collaboration Specialist-Divorce (RCS-D) accreditation which is a designation. I was taught by Professor Kelly Murray who holds degrees from Stanford and Harvard Law Schools, and who has been a staff member of a top 20 law school since 2005.
How is working with you different than working with a non-RCS-D designee agent?
Our training and experience with divorce listings provides us the ability to identify difficulties prior to them becoming problems. Our unique way of utilizing professionals to assist you early in the process of divorce is what makes the difference.
Do you communicate with my attorney?
We know that good communication means efficiency and can keep fees under control.
How will you market my home?
It all begins with making your house look its best, and we do this through market-specific analysis, project coordination, and professional photography. We then launch a marketing campaign that includes social media, strategic syndication to consumer sites (such as Zillow and Redfin) including international platforms, agent-to-agent connections, open houses, and when appropriate, cash investors.
Will you help me find a house to buy?
We partner with a lender who is extensively trained to handle divorce situations, and they will assist in giving you the best opportunity to obtain a loan, and will explain all your options to you. Once you are ready, we can represent you in the purchase of your new home!
